Erika Norwood currently serves as Chairperson of the Board of Directors for IDEX. Erika served as Executive Director of IDEX from 2013-2016 and was involved in completing a successful spin-off of the enterprise from Gray Matters Capital Foundation while also deepening the impact of IDEX's work through partner relations and resource mobilization. Erika has a personal vested interest in increasing gender and racial diversity within the social sector and strengthening the presence of women's leadership across the social enterprise space.
Currently, Erika serves as Executive Director at Gray Matters Capital overseeing the Foundation's global impact investing and programmatic efforts.
Erika is the Founder of InvestWISE Scholarship Fund and the COED Project. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Gray Matters Capital Foundation, VOICE for Girls and Caleb Christopher Foundation and on the advisory commitee for Georgia Tech University's Women's Enterpreneurship Institute. Erika currently resides in Atlanta, GA with her son Caleb and their adorable puppy Thursday.
Bhavna Mathur is the Executive Director for IDEX and is responsible for the success, outreach and sustainability of the IDEX intervention in India. Her role involves working closely with a diverse group of fellows, social enterprises and mentors to enhance the intrapreneurial development experience.
Prior to IDEX, Bhavna worked with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), managing technology development programmes for small and medium enterprises in emerging markets. In sync with the industrial development strategy of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, she spearhead several interventions for the development of green manufacturing technologies , intellectual property rights and technology upgradation in SMEs.
Bhavna holds an MSc in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics, UK , a Masters in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India and a Bachelors in Economics from Delhi University. Her passion for economics and development has always driven her to develop solutions that integrate the two and work for development that is inclusive and sustainable.
Keeping her passion for the subject alive, Bhavna often mentors students across schools, universities and business schools in the subject of economics. Bhavna currently resides in Bangalore with her husband and their two dogs.
Country Program Manager, India
Sandhya has joined IDEX as the Programme Manager and is responsible for managing the cohort during the fellowship cycle. This includes fellow coaching, mentoring, conducting periodic one-on-one sessions with fellows, ensuring that all fellows are timely and thorough in regard to curriculum assigned work. Apart from cohort responsibilities, she fosters a sense of community and connection among diverse group of fellows, staff, enterprise partners, resident mentors, local alumni and professional networks through in-person and online engagement.
Sandhya has rich experience in Client Servicing, Stakeholder Management and Marketing across diverse industries. Prior to joining the IDEX team, she was running an e-commerce venture called ‘For Love’. Playing a vital role in bringing together handlooms from manufacturers across the country to an online platform to enable better visibility and market creation.
Holding true to her entrepreneurial spirit, Sandhya has an MBA in Marketing and has done her Bachelors of Mass Media from Sophia College, Mumbai. She now lives in Bangalore with her husband and son.
Sandhya Sarah Jose
Associate Program Manager, India
The newest member of our team is another Sandhya! But to avoid certain ambiguity, she now goes by Sarah. Sarah has joined IDEX as a Programme Associate wherein her primary responsibility is to provide an enriching experience for the cohort during the tenure of their fellowship. She is accountable for supporting the Country Manager in all tasks related to managing the fellows, partner enterprises, mentors-in-residence, alumni networks, online and offline activities, meetings and workshops.
Sarah's expertise lies in event production, marketing and communication across multiple sectors. Before joining IDEX, Sarah was part of IDE Consulting, a company involved in bringing together a captivating networking environment of buyers and sellers from across the world to engage in business in the investment, real estate, healthcare and renewable energy domain. At IDE, she was instrumental in successfully implementing their global initiatives and fostering a systematic approach which lead to their strong global presence.
Sarah has completed her Bachelor in Management Studies from St Xaviers College in Mumbai. Her passion for entrepreneurship and saving the world played a vital role in taking up the assignment and becoming an integral part of the IDEX Acclerator team. She resides in Bangalore with her father, brother and 2 crazy dogs.
At IDEX, Shilpa is responsible for providing administrative, logistical, organizational and programmatic support to the Team and network of valued stakeholders. As the go-to troubleshooter, Shilpa’s primed her efficiency in making things things ‘Run like Clockwork’.
She brings with her over 3 years of human resources experience with specialization in talent management including recruiting, performance management, employee development, and employee engagement. She also has expertise in Program Management and coordination for various initiatives of Gray Matters Capital India such as handling the HR function and doubles up as the Office Admin.
Prior to IDEX and Gray Matters Capital, Shilpa worked in the HR department of organizations like SVR Global Solutions and National Child Development Council. Shilpa holds a Bachelors’ degree in Technology and currently pursuing an Executive Development Program in HRM from Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur and Society of Human Resource Management.
As a proponent of smart work culture, Shilpa believes that the more we observe people, the more we get to know about what factors spark their efficiency at getting the work done, resulting in lesser friction.
